Thanksgiving part 1

After watching the Aggies march down Congress in the morning, we headed over to Ann and Jim's for Thanksgiving dinner. We brought the uber-cute hand-turkey pies! I saw this idea months ago and have been patiently waiting for Thanksgiving to make them. I was so excited about these in a nerdy mommy way.

Ashley made a "thankful box" and we all wrote on little papers what we were thankful for. After the wonderful meal, the box was passed around and we all drew another person's paper to read. Genevieve even filled out a paper, quite amazingly. Health and family were common themes of thankfulness and Genevieve was thankful for her immediate family, as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins to play with her, love her, and hold her tight. This activity was fun and it spurred a movement by Renae and Ashley to create a family time capsule. Grampie is involved in figuring out the logistics of the time capsule, to be made, filled and buried at a later date.

The group dispersed in the afternoon so Ann, Jim and Luis could get down to Memorial Stadium for the big football game. We went home to take naps and then over to Jennifer and Luis' house to watch the game in the comfort of a house. With the little ones this is the best way to get some football time in. Plus, everyone could play Guitar Hero during halftime! This is a real treat because we don't have any game consoles (instead James spends his hobby time and money on music stuff). James has said numerous times that if we had Guitar Hero he'd never leave the house! He's also said that we will NEVER have any video game consoles. Ha! I bet in 10 years or less that we'll have whatever is popular at the time. James is a real softie for his kids and when he gets the puppy dog eyes from them because they want some video game, I know he'll give in. Mark my words people. :)

Oh, and the Longhorns won the game...

Happy Thanksgiving!
