The Kite Festival

March 1st was a beautiful sunny day, not too cold, not too hot; just perfect for a family outing to the Zilker Kite Festival. We packed up and caught the shuttle not too far from our house and were transported to the park in about 15 minutes. The crowds were very manageable, although with tons of kites flying everywhere you do have to be aware of your surroundings and dodge kite strings, kite flyers running around while all their attention is focused 100 feet in the air, and the occasional kite nose-dive into the ground. I think this was the first shuttle or 'school bus' for both Tristan and Genevieve, so of course we took pictures riding on the bus. While at the festival, Tristan got to go 'fishing' but he was confused when his fishing line came back with a stuffed teddy bear on the end of it instead of a fish. Can you blame him? He also got to have a blue monkey painted on his face (sort of).

The kite festival ended up being phase one of our day at the park, so I've split this post due to the number of pictures I wanted to share. It turns out that having Renae around and both of us armed with cameras, creates TONS of photos to look through and increases the difficulty in picking just a few...
