Gates

Remember the gate blocking off Genevieve's entry to the kitchen? The gate with the bar stool holding it in place? Well, I thought I would share some of the other "gates" that we are using now that she is so mobile. She can get around the road blocks to the laundry room and bathrooms, but it takes her a while and you usually have just enough time to do what you need to do before she joins you. She cries when she is left in a room alone or can't see anyone else, so just closing the door to the laundry room, for example, if you are in there doesn't work right now. In the last few days the Thomas the Train couch has become more entertaining as something to climb over and conquer, but it served its 'road block' purpose for a while. The guitars are great at stopping her, unless James needs to use them, of course. I imagine she will grow out of the "need to see you at all times" phase soon, as she takes more and more interest in toys and moving around to explore, so hopefully the need for all of the adults to climb over an item to enter a room will be shortlived. I foresee the stairs and the kitchen as the only areas to be blocked off for any long length of time.
