6 on Tuesday, 4/28/09

I know that title is not catchy at all, sorry I can’t give you a whole “10 on Tuesday”…

I had the sewing machine out to work on some curtains and Tristan asked what it was and if he could help. I told him it was a sewing machine and let him sit next to me and watch while I explained everything I was doing. Then he asked if Grampie had one for him too, “a little one” and I said, “no, I don’t think so.” Then he said, “Gran have one for me, a little one?”

At school they were talking about how we have two ears, two eyes, two arms, two legs, etc. and Tristan then said, “and two pockets” and all the kids laughed. They are starting to make jokes, understand jokes and make each other laugh!

Genevieve loves to climb – up stairs, up strollers, up on chairs, on Tristan’s “red chair” at the table (an antique Cosco style chair with the fold-out steps) – yeah, she took a nice tumble off the top of that when she tried to climb onto the table… I was running towards her, really I was, but she is FAST! She can also climb onto the chairs of their little table set in the playroom, turn herself around and situate herself at the table to enjoy some of Tristan’s fine cooking with us!

Genevieve also loves books right now. She climbs up and sits on something and “reads” herself books. It’s really funny and I hope she continues to enjoy this pastime. Tristan’s Thomas the Train couch is her favorite place for this in the living room, but she also enjoys the 2nd stair and the little tub kneeler thing in our bathroom (which is about the perfect sized “bench” for a one-year-old.

Tristan loves anything and everything YELLOW. The yellow bowl, the yellow cup, the yellow balloon, the yellow candy – you get the picture. I’m glad he picked such a bright, fun, happy color. I’m also glad he accepts when the yellow dishes are dirty and need to be washed. He just says this very disappointed, “okay” and then we move on to the frog plate, blue cup, etc.

This is the same reaction he gives when the car socks are dirty, a long, drawn out, “oh-kay.” He doesn’t argue, but is really sad. Unfortunately, I cannot wash the one pair of car socks we have every single day. He almost always wears them on Tuesdays, since I do kid laundry on Mondays. I wonder if his teacher has noticed this pattern. It’s been this way since “sock season” began back in November or so, when we had to give up sandals for something a bit warmer. Now that its sandal time again, he still prefers his car socks. I guess hot feet don’t bother him. We’ll see what happens in July.

And, just so this post doesn't go without some pictures... I was trying to get some shots of Genevieve in this cute cheerleader outfit that I borrowed from a friend. Either she is not impressed with the University of Texas (good girl, A&M is better) or it was too close to naptime. She fell asleep in the middle of trying to wiggle her way off the red couch. Enjoy!
