4/22/09

We went to see Daddy's band play tonight. Genevieve fell asleep in the car on the way there, so the majority of the time she was still trying to snap out of the I-just-woke-up/zombie baby stage. But man, after giving her some food, she decided it was time to have some fun! I didn't bring any food for her and figured there would be something at the restaurant. Everything sounded great to me, but I wasn't sure how baby-friendly it would be. Thankfully both kids eat everything we give them so far. Garlic parmesan polenta and artichoke hearts worked out just fine for her dinner, after a hearty pre-dinner snack of yogurt at home. She was all smiles and dancing after that. Tristan was great too and became the tip runner of the evening. People were calling him over to go put money in the tip jar and after each time, he would run back to our table and give Renae a high-five. He did his fair share of dancing too!

Towards the end of the evening both kids were crawling on me, dancing, giving each other hugs and laughing, when the inevitable happened. They bonked heads during a great big bear hug and both kids cried out in pain in perfect time with each other. Thankfully the band was still playing, so (I think) only our table heard them. After lots of kisses, it was time to go home. It was a fun night and both kids fell asleep in the car. This made for a very easy transition into beds when we got home, which also meant more computer time for Mommy!

On another note, it has been warm here the last few nights and we are not ready to turn on the AC yet. There have been years when we've used it as early as February or March, but it hasn't been necessary yet this year.

During our spring break trip, Ashley brought fabric and made the kids some blankets by cutting strips in the edges all the way around the fabric and then tying two pieces together. It's hard to describe on paper or via the internets... Anyway, Tristan LOVES his tool blanket (it has pictures of all sorts of tools on it). He tells us often that "Ashley made it for me" with a big smile. Well, tonight it was too hot for his tool blanket. He shares his mother's need to have some sort of cover, so I gave him a not-so-hot green elephant blanket instead. We talked about it and agreed that it was too hot for the tool blanket and he laid down, let me cover him up with the "it-will-do" blanket and told me again that Ashley made his tool blanket "just for me." He had the biggest smile on his face and I said, "yep, because she loves you so much." He fell asleep so happy and I just wanted to pick him up and snuggle with him a little bit longer. He is so loved (and I'm glad he knows it)!
