It’s quite obvious, to me especially, that I am the same person I was while in school. I could never handle the everyday mundane busy work sort of tasks, but excelled with the large research papers and projects. Thankfully, I was pretty much able to always stick with classes that worked with this style of learning/working, procrastination included. If you glance at the dates and “older posts” of this blog, you can see a pattern. Every 2-3 months there is a whole host of blogging and catching up that happens, after which I try to vow to keep up with things better, only to succumb to the same old habits. For what it’s worth, Tristan has been off of school during the summer and I’ve been doing a decent job of keeping us busy and entertained. That also means that I haven’t had much down time where I didn’t need to be working on the typical household tasks of laundry, cleaning, keeping the kids fed during the day. Well, Tristan has obviously started school again and with the new school year I have a need to get organized, clean out some problem areas in the house, tie up loose ends on a few lingering projects and update the blog. Unfortunately, Tristan is not the one keeping me from being productive these days. If I build the “biggest, hugest train track (he’s) ever, ever seen,” Tristan will entertain himself with it for at least an hour and then circle back later in the day for almost another hour – awesome! But, Tristan has a little sister that keeps me running these days and I get just enough done around the house to get by from day to day. If I think I’ve given her an activity that will keep her entertained for a while, that means I have about sixty seconds to unload the sharp knives and silverware from the dishwasher basket before she rounds the corner, steals the basket and runs around the house giggling wildly while I run after her. It has turned into quite a fun game. I love the baby squeals and giggles and the awkward, clumsy movements of a running toddler make me smile. I’m not looking forward to the day that she decides a glass plate is the new “in” thing to grab and go with.
Anyway, this time I’m not going to make any promises that I’ll stay on track with the updates. But, I am planning a blogging marathon during the upcoming days to get us current to this point. The kids are in bed, James is playing music out of town, I’ve read all of the updates on boards and blogs that I follow, I’ve eaten a bowl of ice cream and I have my glass of wine within reach. I’ve set the perfect stage for working. Aside from hopefully entertaining my kids someday with this documentation, I have thought about how unfair it is that I get so entertained by my fellow mommy friends via their blogs and I hardly ever return the favor. So here it goes, the kick-off to the September ’09 blogging marathon. Enjoy!
I also thought that I should include at least one cute picture, since that's why most of you are here anyway...
