This year the crop of bluebonnets was a little less than impressive due to the lack of rain last year. There were a few patches of bluebonnets around town and the hoards of parents (mothers mostly) all seemed to congregate at these same places for about two weeks straight in an attempt to get the perfect annual "bluebonnet pictures." I am going to confess that I went out twice to try to capture the moment and would have gone a third time, but the business of life got too busy. I went out once with both of the kids and then one day before a big storm came, with just Genevieve. Overcast skies are best and Tristan was at school and I knew it would start raining before I could get him so I grabbed her and ran out the door. Thankfully my mother-in-law left me a message about a little unknown patch close to home before I drove across town.
When Tristan was with us, he did his best to try to entertain his sister and get her to smile or at least not have a total meltdown. A great picture of him is also missing because he would smile, but his eyes would look everywhere BUT at me/the camera. I still got a pretty decent shot of him though.
Renae was with us the second time and she came in very handy when it was time to dig flowers out of Genevieve's mouth. Even Renae's "Aunt Nae Nae" magic wouldn't work when it came time for smiles though.
It was a super cute moment when Genevieve tried to put the flowers back on the stem...
Enjoy!
